Foxtail Millet Sweet Chilla

Millet always got an upper hand when it comes to nutrition. Foxtail millet is one of the healthiest minor millet widely used in southern Indian states. The health benefits of foxtail millet are numerous, including weight loss, diabetes management, and pregnancy support. It is high in vitamins and minerals, and has a nutty flavor which makes it a fabulous substitute for rice or wheat in various recipes.

Today I am sharing a healthy breakfast item i.e., Foxtail Millet Sweet Chilla. This healthy sweet chilla (made of jaggery) will become favorite breakfast to kids as well as adults. Lets get started with this recipe.

Foxtail Millet Sweet Chilla

A healthy chilla made of foxtail millet flour and jaggery. A perfect recipe to include in your breakfast or dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Foxtail millet flour
  • 3/4 /2cup Gram Flour(Besan)
  • 1 cup Jagger Water
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Flour(elachi powder)
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Honey

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup of foxtail millet flour, 3/4 cup of Gram flour(Besan), 1/2 tsp of cardamom flour into it and mix it well.
  • Now add jaggery water into this to make it batter like consistency or pourable consistency to make chillas. (Jaggery water is the water in which solid jaggery is melt)
  • Mix it properly with a spoon or ladle to avoid lumps free batter.
  • Place a dosa pan on the stove. Grease it with 1 tsp of ghee. Now pour a laddle full batter on to the pan and spread it like chillas. Cover it with a lid and cook it in a low flame for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Now open the lid and flip it other side and let it cook for about another 2-3 minutes. After this switch off the flame, and take it into a serving plate, garnish it with 1 tsp of honey above it for extra sweetness.
